Terms
What you are buying, in plain words.
No small print games. This says what the licence covers, what the app does and does not do, and where you stand if something goes wrong.

Who you are buying from
Valora Parentis is a trading name of Bingham Mayne and Smith Ltd, registered in England, company number 05253343. Our trading address is 16 Great Queen Street, Covent Garden, London WC2B 5AH, United Kingdom. Bingham Mayne and Smith Ltd is not registered for VAT, so no VAT is charged on our own invoices. Your purchase itself is handled by Paddle (paddle.com), our reseller and Merchant of Record: because Paddle — not us — sells the licence to you, Paddle applies any VAT or sales tax your country or state requires. In the UK and EU that tax is included in the price shown; in the US, any state sales tax is added at checkout. Either way, Paddle shows the exact total, including any tax, before you pay — so there is no surprise. You can reach a real person at hello@valoraparentis.com.
What the licence covers
One payment, no subscription, nothing recurring. The licence covers installing and activating My World on up to three computers — most people use one for the person and one for themselves while setting up. Re-activating a computer you have already activated is always free and never uses another of the three.
How long it lasts
For as long as the app works on your computer. We do not switch it off, and it does not stop working if you stop paying, because there is nothing to keep paying. What we cannot promise is that a future version of Windows will keep running it — that is Microsoft's decision, not ours. If that day comes we will say so plainly rather than quietly leave you stuck.
What it needs to work
Windows 10 or 11. An internet connection for email, video calls, internet and radio; the rest of the screen still works without one. Video calls need someone at the other end to answer, and depend on both households' internet. There is no Mac version.
The Help button — please read this one
The Help button places a video call to one family member you choose, and emails your family to say it was pressed. It is not an emergency service, not a medical alarm and not a monitoring service. It does not reach any emergency line, and nobody is watching a screen at our end. If the person has a pendant alarm, a warden call system or a care plan, keep every bit of it exactly as it is. This sits alongside those things and replaces none of them.
What we do not promise
We do not claim the app blocks scams, keeps anyone safe, or prevents every mistake. Approved-senders email means unknown mail waits for you instead of reaching them, which is a real protection and not the same as safety. Windows itself cannot be fully sealed off by any program. We would rather say this here than have you discover it later.
Your legal rights
Nothing here reduces your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015: what we sell must be as described, fit for purpose and of satisfactory quality. If it is not, you are entitled to a repair, replacement or refund regardless of anything on this page.
Using it fairly
The licence is for you and the person you are caring for. Please do not share your activation code publicly, resell it, or try to work around the three-computer limit. If you need it on a fourth machine — a replacement laptop, a second parent — just write to us. We would far rather say yes than have you feel stuck.
If we change these terms
They apply as they stood on the day you bought. We will not apply a later change backwards to a licence you already hold.
Law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and you can bring a claim in the courts of England and Wales. Wherever you live — in the UK, the EU, the United States or elsewhere — this does not take away the mandatory consumer protection of the country you live in.
